How do I end a challenge early?
There is no general reset control. A challenge normally ends at its scheduled time. Use only the unlock or challenge controls shown in your version of the app. If a challenge has ended but an app remains blocked, reopen Detox, restart your phone, and contact us if the block remains.
iPhone support
- Apps are not being blocked: Open Detox and follow any prompt to allow Screen Time access. If access is already allowed, reopen the app and try again.
- An app remains blocked after a challenge: Reopen Detox and restart your iPhone. If the block remains, email us with your app version and the challenge end time.
- You cannot remove Detox: Make sure the challenge has ended and reopen Detox so its Screen Time restrictions can be cleared. Restart the iPhone if the Delete App option is still unavailable, then contact us.
- A challenge purchase is missing: Do not purchase the same challenge again just to troubleshoot. Use Restore Purchase in Detox, confirm the App Store is signed in to the Apple ID that made the purchase, then email us with the transaction identifier and app version.
How do temporary unlocks work?
If your version and active challenge offer a temporary unlock, use the options shown in the app. Selected apps are blocked again when that unlock expires. If no unlock option is shown, the challenge continues until its scheduled end; contact us if the app's state appears incorrect.
Android support
Android challenges may be offered as one-time purchases through Google Play. Temporary breaks are currently available without another purchase. Detox uses RevenueCat to deliver and validate challenge purchases.
- Apps are not being blocked: Open Detox and complete its setup prompts. In Android settings, verify that Detox has Accessibility, Usage access, and Display over other apps permissions. Menu names vary by phone manufacturer.
- Protection stops in the background: Set Detox battery usage to Unrestricted, or allow its battery-optimization exemption, if your phone provides those options. Notifications are optional and do not control blocking.
- You enabled device-administrator protection: To remove Detox, first open Android settings, find Device admin apps (the exact path varies), and deactivate Detox. You can then uninstall it normally. Accessibility and overlay access can also be revoked in Android settings.
- An app is missing from the picker: Detox lists apps that expose a launcher icon. Apps without a launcher activity may not appear.
- A purchase is missing: Do not purchase again just to troubleshoot. Confirm Google Play is signed in to the account that made the purchase, then email us with the Google Play order number.
Android refunds
Android purchases are processed by Google Play. You can review purchases and request help through Google Play's refund flow.
